Barbara Jeanne Johnson

Barbara Jeanne Johnson, 84, of Duluth, MN, died Sunday, April 26, 2026 in the Aftenro Home with her family by her side. Barb was born in Fairmont, MN on September 28, 1941 to Howard and Una Birch. She was a graduate of Bloomington High School. She married Charles Johnson in 1967 and he died in July of 1996. Barb operated a daycare center from her home in Pike Lake, caring for 110 families over her 30 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles.

Barb is survived by her children, Linda (Aaron) Johnson of Two Harbors and Duane “Dewey” (Jennifer) Johnson of Saginaw, MN; sisters, Karen Birch of Duluth and Debbie (Alec) Castle of Duluth; two brothers, Howard Birch of Proctor and Russell (Nancy) Birch of Chanhassen, MN; three grandchildren, Emma Johnson, Kaitlin “KK” Johnson and Madison “Maddy” Johnson; nieces and nephews, Alex Castle, Nathan Birch, Noah Birch, Natalie Patience and Courtney Galster; many daycare families.

The family would like to thank all of the visitors that stopped by Aftenro over the past week, sharing food and memories.
