Betty Jean Barbo Wells, 90, the first Brownie Scout in Duluth, 1932, passed away in Minneapolis April 30, 2014. A Stanbrook Hall graduate, 1932, and Duluth Business College, she started her secretarial career with Missabe & Iron Range Railroad Company. After marriage and motherhood and a lengthy career, she retired from University of Alabama Birmingham Medical Center where she did manuscript and grant preparation for research scientists.
A friend to many, Betty is remembered for her artistic endeavors, volunteer leadership, interests in politics, tennis, her cabin on Lake Mille Lacs. Betty's memory will be cherished by her children Mary (Craig), Stephen (Denise), Tommy (Barbara), her grandchildren Sarah, Elizabeth (Joe), Patrick, Taylor (Kaitlin), nieces and nephews, and friends all over the world.
