Brenda Jean Telega passed away peacefully at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth on July 5th 2025 at the age of 57.
She was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013 and went through several years of rigorous treatment and rehabilitation before moving to Benedictine to receive long term care.
Brenda graduated from Denfeld High School, and attended the University of Minnesota Duluth pursuing a degree in early childhood education. She passed down her passion for learning and creativity to her children through hours spent at the library and countless art projects at home.
Brenda spent the majority of her time involved in activities with her children and was an active member of the St. James Catholic Church and school community. She coached soccer, taught cooking and sewing classes at St. James, and was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout troop leader for many years. Brenda enjoyed cross country skiing, roller blading, and bike rides with her kids. She completed the North Shore inline marathon, the Birkebeiner, as well as Grandma’s half marathon.
Her stubbornness and sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew her. Even after everything life threw at her, her infectious laugh stayed the same.
Brenda was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Teresa Telega; her uncle, Norbert Telega; and sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Hendrickson.
She is survived by her children Violet, Nelson, and Annika Wennberg, their father Chad Wennberg, as well as her sister Alicia Telega, brother Tim Telega, and dear friend and neighbor Jane Dolter.
The Wennberg family would like to thank the staff at Benedictine for the care they provided for Brenda for the past several years. We hope she brought as much joy to your life as you did to hers.
In lieu of flowers, please gift a book to a child in your life, or make a donation to your local school or public library.
