Catherine Walczynski

Catherine Victoria Walczynski, age 82, died April 26, 2016 at InterFaith Care Center, Carlton, MN. She was born November 10, 1933 in Floodwood, MN, to Nicholas and Katherine Zauhar. Cathy is a graduate of Floodwood High School and Duluth Business University. She married John Walczynski in Floodwood on September 26, 1959 and together they lived a rich, full life, raising their four children in Duluth.

Retired from Minnesota Power, she remained an active member of Holy Family Church, happily giving countless hours to its environmental committee as well as being a member of the Rosary and Altar Society. Cathy was a member of the Piedmont Garden Club, was gifted at sewing and gardening, and truly loved to create and share her talents.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ralph, Joseph, Thomas, Louis and Jerome, and survived by her brother Martin and many other relatives. Cathy will be greatly missed by her husband of 56 years, John; children Tim (Marleen), Dan (Kelly), Karen (Larry) Trojak, and Rick (Shawn); as well as grandchildren Jacob, Joshua, Natalie, Maryssa, Blake, Nicole, and Justin.

Visitation from 5-7 p.m. Friday April, 29, 2016, with rosary at 6:30, at Holy Family Church, 2430 W. 3rd St., Duluth. Visitation continues from noon until the 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday at Holy Family. Interment at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Association, Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter. Final care entrusted to Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home.
