Charlotte Marjorie Lenning Rysman, 83, of Duluth passed away on August 20, 2024 at home with her family by her side. She was born on April 2, 1941 in Duluth to Marjorie and Hans Lenning, the youngest of three daughters. Her sisters were 14 and 12 years her senior and Char referred to herself as the caboose. After graduating from Denfeld High School in 1959, she attended Duluth Business University, where she studied secretarial skills. There, she met Toivo, fell in love and married him in 1961. Together, they raised two daughters, Lynn Marie and Jill Kathleen, and built a life together through 62 years in Duluth and their former home at Lake Nichols in Canyon. They enjoyed cheering on the Vikings, pontoon rides and spending time at the lake. Char had a lifelong career as a secretary at an insurance agency in downtown Duluth. She volunteered behind the scenes, and was known as a good friend and neighbor. Char valued working hard and having fun and had a playful sense of humor. She loved her family, was dedicated to her community and often put others needs before her own. We will miss our dear caboose. She’s survived by Lynn (Kevin) Welch of Madison and Jill Rysman of Duluth; cherished grandchildren, Aiden and Emmeline Welch of Madison; nieces, Patty Pederson and Dana Benson; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Lilah June Wagner and Marion Elaine Boyle, among other loved ones. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024 followed by an 11 a.m. service at Elim Lutheran Church, 6101 Cody St., Duluth, MN. Memorials can be made to Elim Lutheran Church or the Lake Nichols Improvement Association. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
