Dennis James Peterson

Dennis James Peterson, 71, of Duluth, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025 in Aspirus St. Luke’s. Dennis was born on June 9, 1954 in Duluth to Donald E. and Donna L (Olson) Peterson. 

He graduated with Honors in 1972 from Denfeld High School and attended Duluth Vocational Technical Institute where he earned a degree in Data Processing, graduating in 1974. Dennis worked as a computer operator at Data 100 in the Twin Cities for a year, then moved back to Duluth. He worked at First Bank in downtown Duluth as a check sorter and computer operator. In December 1977, Dennis was hired at St. Luke’s Hospital, I. T. Department where he worked at the programming help desk and prepared billing reports, retiring in 2020. In addition to his work at St. Luke’s, Dennis sold real estate with Century 21 in the 1990’s. He also became a residential appraiser. In the early 2000’s Dennis was an agent of Primerica Financial. 

He was a lifetime member of Spirit of God Lutheran Church (formerly of Zion Lutheran Church), and loved history and math. He married Beverly Brink on April 2, 1977 at Hope Lutheran Church in Moose Lake, MN. Together they raised two sons. He was very proud of his family including daughter-in-law, Maria. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. Dennis is survived by his wife, Beverly; sons, Erik and Bryan (Maria Bradley); a sister, Diane (Mike) Rask of Eagan, MN; a brother, Darren Skjoelsvold of Duluth; and many extended family.

Memorial service 12:30pm Saturday October 4, 2025 at Spirit of God Lutheran Church. 2431West 3rd Street. Rev Dr. Nathan Sager officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial at Oneota Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
