Dennis “Denny” Gulbranson, 61, of Saginaw, lost his battle to cancer on June 1, 2021. He fought this disease with dignity, humor and a positive attitude to the very end. Denny was born on April 2, 1960 in Duluth, MN to parents, Keith and TM “Girle” Gulbranson. He graduated from Proctor High School in 1979 and was a member of the Rails baseball team as their pitcher. Denny was an avid fisherman. Other fishermen were drawn to his boat as they knew he was always reeling them in. He was as good at cooking fish as he was catching them and hosted several fish fry’s for family and friends throughout the year. When not enjoying Fish Lake, he often spent time with Ken and Harlan on other lakes. All three of them enjoyed their annual International Brainerd Raceway trip where they cooked fish for several of the race car drivers as well as their crew members. Everyone loved Denny and with his good natured personality, the gift of gab with a hint of sarcasm, he was a very successful bartender. He sincerely enjoyed interacting with his customers and went out of his way to make sure that everyone had a good time and got home safely. The last place he worked was the Blue Max on Fish Lake before he became ill. He missed not working and was hopeful to return to work at some point in time. Denny loved all kinds of sports and was a huge fan of the Vikings, Twins, Wild as well as the UMD Bulldogs. Being with family was very important to Denny and he was the primary caregiver to his father, Keith for many years. Denny is preceded in death by his mother, and grandparents as well as a close cousin, Marge and her husband, Bob Kanuit. Survivors include his father, Keith; sister, Kandice “Kandi”; brothers, Greg and Kevin (Teri); nieces, Nicole (Carmen) and Laura (Jamis); great nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Caylyn, Lexi, Mason and Weston; uncle, Lynnn (Patty) and extended family member Linda Hansen. He will be missed by many including his friend Mauer the family dog. The family would like to thank the following organizations for their care of Denny for the past year: Essentia Health Oncology and Hospice, Miller Dwan Palliative Care and Rehab, Keystone Bluffs, Brenda Ehnes and the staff at Pathways to Achievement. “Goodbyes are not forever; goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I’ll miss you, until we meet again.” A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
