Diane Elaine Ellison

Diane Elaine Ellison passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters on November 19, 2025, at the age of 91.

Born on a farm near Avoca, Mn to Glenn and Ellen Holmberg, Diane excelled in 4H, music, cheerleading, and was valedictorian of her graduating class as well as Marshall Snow Queen in 1951. She married Richard Brooks Anderson in 1955, and had four children. Continuing her education, she became a supervisor of Special Education for the Duluth Public Schools, from which she retired in 1991.

She married Leo Charles Ellison in 1981, and remained active in professional organizations and First Lutheran Church. She loved music and sang in multiple choirs. She had a passion and talent for quilting and fiber arts, and enjoyed participating in spirituality groups.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ronald, husband Leo, and son Kurt Anderson.

She is survived by children Mona (Randy Delly, Kerrick, Mn, Laurie (Mark) Miller, Sturgeon Lake, Mn, and Randine Anderson, Duluth, grandchildren Christa (Ann) Maxwell, Nathan, Eric and Maryn Miller, Jason (Mayu) Nyquist, Leah (Tony) Mootz, Theresa (Jesse) Johnson, Kyra (Browning) Smith, and Lars Lewis, great grandchildren Brooks Maxwell, Carter Woelm, Brecken Cottrell, Lake and Rain Tsuzuki, Odin and Abram Johnson, and Davin Mootz. Diane is also survived by her beloved feline companion, Lily.

Memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 2 p.m. There will be a visitation starting at 1 p.m.

A private interment will be held for the family at Forest Hill Cemetery
