Dorothy Elizabeth Peters slipped peacefully from this life on October 26 at the age of 90 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living, Proctor, where she had resided for the past 5 years. Dorothy was a native Duluthian, born November 14, 1927, seventh of eight siblings. Pete and Dorothy raised their family in Esko; the family also spent many years enjoying the outdoors and rustic living at their cabin on Lower Comstock Lake near Cotton; memories of the cabin years were recorded in cabin logs that all the family still enjoys reading. During their retirement years Pete & Dorothy enjoyed several years as full-time RV’ers, traveling to warmer climates in the winter months and returning to Minnesota for the summer months. The “snow birds” eventually re-settled in Kerrville TX where they lived for about 20 years before returning to Minnesota in 2007. Dorothy loved the outdoors, especially birds and plants, endowing her children with her love of nature. She also loved to sew and read. When she was in her 60’s while living in Texas her children all chipped in to buy her a computer. She loved the new found pleasure of being able to email family and friends and to use the internet. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family. Preceded in death by her husband of 62 years (Leonard Peters, known as “Pete”); her six elder siblings, a grandson, Nowall and son, Randy. Dorothy is survived by one younger sibling, Phyllis Mullen of Duluth; daughter, Valerie (Jordi Aloma) of Houston TX, daughter, Paula of Bemidji, son, Tracy (Lori) of Duluth, daughter-in-law, Tammi (wife of Randy) of Cloquet and son, Marshall (Karyn) of Ogilvie MN; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home, 3208 West 3rd Street, Duluth with a visitation starting at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
