Elizabeth M. Kinghorn, “Bette”, 96, formerly of Yukon, OK, died Tuesday, May 28, 2024 in Brookdale Assisting Living in Norman, OK. Bette was born in Duluth on June 22, 1927 to Frank and Regina (Wozniak) Galeski. She was a 1945 graduate of Duluth Central High School, and married Morris “Moe” Kinghorn on October 9, 1948 in Duluth. In the late 1950’s Bette and Moe moved to Oklahoma where she worked in retail sales. Bette was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City and was a docent at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
She enjoyed baking, entertaining friends, traveling, painting on china and canvas, and fishing. Bette was comforted by having Yorkshire Terriers and was especially fond of her beloved “Muffin”. Over several years, Bette submitted numerous baked goods and desserts to the Oklahoma State Fair and received both blue ribbons and red ribbons in recognition of her baking successes, and the Governor of Oklahoma publicly acknowledged Bette's talents.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Vivian Galeski. Bette is survived by two nephews, Michael Galeski and Paul Galeski “Chipper” (Linda, deceased); grandnieces, Sara (Rob) Haveri and their children, Logan and Madison; Jennifer Anderson (Michael, deceased) and her daughter, Emmie and a very special friend, Holly James.
Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the Park Hill Cemetery Chapel. Burial in Park Hill Cemetery.
