Eva Russell

March 20, 1918 — May 7, 2013

Eva M. Russell, 95, Duluth, died May 7, 2013 at Edgewood Vista. She was born in Duluth on March 20, 1918, the first day of spring, to Joe and Mary Landry. The family included her older brother Joe and sister Cecelia "Honey". Eva attended school at Stanbrook Hall. She married Jack Russell in 1938. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband and son Pat. Eva is survived by her children Judy(Roger)Coon, Mary Lee( Tym)Mickolajak, Jim(Linda)Russell, Joe(Vickie)Russell, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Eva's 3 loves were God, Family and Life. Mom loved to laugh and make life fun. We were always treated like we were special. She was always there for us. Mom always handled adversity with grace and moved on. "That's O K", she would say. Her hobby clubs are too many to mention. Mom always had a great love of volunteering to help out, from being our school's PTA President to teaching and performing ethnic dance at the Folk Festival. Eva delivered meals on wheels to Lenox Place for many years and also volunteered at Faith Haven and St. Eligius for over 20 years. She was a member of the Duluth Women's Club, VFW Auxiliary, Holy Family Altar and Rosary Society, AARP and other volunteer work at Holy Family. She loved watching Twins Baseball and was a lifelong fan. Mom touched everyone of us in a special way. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was a true inspiration to all of our family and left us with wonderful memories. She will always be with us. The family would like to thank the skilled staff at Edgewood Vista and especially Memory Unit for their wonderful care. Mom thought you were great. A special thanks also to St. Luke's Hospice. Visitation 10AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2430 W. 3rd ST., Duluth. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home.
