Floyd Lee Hammerstrom, 68, of Duluth, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 28, 2017.Floyd was born in Duluth on November 3, 1948 and attended Denfeld High School.Floyd worked as nursing assistant at Chris Jensen for many years, but found his true calling as a driver for Yellow Cab where he met many life long friends. Floyd was also a life long "thrifter" and took pride in finding a "good deal."Floyd enjoyed reading Western's, watching baseball and spending time with his family. Floyd was a very selfless man and would often offer his couch up to anyone who needed it. Floyd was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He also enjoyed meeting new people and giving them silly nicknames.Floyd was preceded in death by longtime girlfriends, Lola Porter, and Margaret; grandparents, Einar and Irene*; sister, Judy; sister-in-laws, Marlene Hammerstrom and Julie Lunke; brother-in-law, Tommy Connor; and dog, Sisu.He is survived by sons, Travis (Kari) Hammerstrom, Ryan (Jenna) Hammerstrom; grandchildren, Luci, and Ollie; brothers, David Hammerstrom, John, and Jay Lunke; sister, Joy Connor; numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.The family would like to thank the staff that took care of Floyd at Tri-Towers, Keystone Bluffs, and Chris Jensen, you meant the world to him.
Funeral Service will be 2PM Friday, June 2, 2017 with visitation one-hour prior in the Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home, 3208 W 3rd Street, Duluth, MN 55806.
