Frances Shunk

Frances Myrtle Shunk passed away peacefully on June 16 ,2018. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 66 years James ( Jim) Shunk. Frances was born on Nov 12,1926 at Denmark, SC. Her mother Mae Lancaster died when Frances was 16 months old. She was raised by her dad’s ( Lewis Lancaster) brother Wyatt and his wife ,Carrie Lancaster. Frances attended high school at Denmark, SC  and attended one year of college at Montreat, NC. She worked at the Charlestown SC navy yard’s post exchange when she met and fell in love with James Shunk. They were married shortly after. Frances worked as a nurses aid at St Mary’s Hospital and at the JC Penny’s stores until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening , walking and traveling with her husband. Frances is survived by her two sons: Frank and his wife Laura, and Rodney and his wife Barbara. The grandchildren are: Matt, Jenny, Mary, John and Sarah. Her great grandchildren are: Kayla, Brandon, Aaron ,Devin, Austin, Katrina, Aurora, Elise, and Aubrey. The great great grandchildren are Bryce and Gavin. Her surviving cousins from South Carolina are Jimmy Killingsworth and Adeline Gross. Frances will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She will buried alongside her husband at the Oneota Cemetery, after the funeral at Forbes United Methodist Church in Proctor, Mn on June 23,2018. The visitation at the church will be at 10:00 AM and the service at 11:00 AM. Lunch will be served after the graveside service.
