Our beloved father and husband, Frederic Lyman Nylander, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on September 12, 2022, surrounded by his family at his home in Stillwater, MN. Fred was born on July 4, 1936 in Duluth to Lyman and Alice Nylander. He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1954, and then attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired from Minnesota Power after 38 years of service as a Project Engineer and proudly served Minnesota Air National Guard 1958-1961.
Fred was an active Mason, the Scottish Rite and Directors Staff. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and involved with Proctor Boy Scouts. Fred enjoyed hunting with the Shirt-Tail Gang and loved to cook gourmet meals for his family and friends. Fred rarely missed a business meeting, or gathering of friends and family, without bringing a Tupperware of his famous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies or sourdough toast to share. Fred is survived by his wife Betty (Elde) of 62 years; his daughter Susan (Ron) Gockowski of Stillwater, MN and their four children, Madeleine (Matt & great-granddaughter, Mila) Hermann, Katy, Aaron (serving in the Army National Guard) and Justin; his son David (Karen) Nylander of Hanover, MN and their three children, Cory, Amanda and Drew(serving in the Navy).
Private family graveside services were held with Fr Dale Nau officiating. Burial at Hillside Cemetery in Carlton, MN, with Military Honors accorded by the Carlton VFW Honor Guard. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
