Gordon Reimer

Gordon James Reimer, 79, of Highland Village Drive, formerly of St. Paul Ave, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Duluth on December 11, 1934 to John and Gertrude Reimer. Gordy attended Duluth Central High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving on the flight lines in Korea and North Africa. Gordy married Vera Elmore on October 7, 1961 in St. Matthews Lutheran in Duluth. They attended Trinity Lutheran Church and are members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Duluth Heights. Gordy worked at the U. S. Steel Plant, a delivery driver for Miller Dwan and retired as a cab driver in Duluth. Gordy was a member of the American Legion Post 71, the former Moose Club 505 and the Laurel and Hardy Club-Sons of the Desert. He was an avid collector of Laurel and Hardy memorabilia. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jack, Richard and William Reimer; a sister, Gertrude Shannon. He is survived by his wife, Vera; daughters, Diane (Rob) Phillips of North Ft Myers, FL and Debra (Neil) Davidson of Duluth; sisters, Katherine Engel and Rose (Ron) Severtsen both of Duluth; grandchildren, Michelle Olson, Michael Olson, Pamela Laakso, Sandra Laakso and Andrew Laakso; great-grandchildren, Jonathon Buchanan, Dakota Buchanan, Janelle Talbert, Samantha Biddle, Jazmyn Biddle, Jayson Laakso and Madix Olson. Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Saturday, January 18, 2014 in Holy Cross Lutheran Church. 410 North Arlington Ave. Rev Michael DeKraai officiating. Memorials to Holy Cross Lutheran Church would be appreciated. Military honors accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard.
