Gudrun E. "Gudie" Johnson, 92, of Duluth, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota. Gudrun was born August 27, 1923 and was raised and lived in West Duluth. Gudrun was a 1942 graduate of Denfeld High School. She worked for Decker Art and Frame Shop and AAA Minnesota. After retirement from AAA, she fulfilled a life-long dream to travel to Norway to see her parents' birthplace and meet many members of her family. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, volunteered for many years at St Eligius Nursing Home and had been a member and volunteer at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. After the death of her first husband, Gudie always said her family was her entire life. She stayed very active, was a welcoming friend to many, and loved by all. The family is very grateful for the attentive and caring staff at Faith Haven, Aftenro and St. Luke's Hospital. Preceded in death by her parents, Hjalmar and Bertha Edison, a sister, Borghild and brothers, Harold and Roy, husband, Daniel Haley and husband, Bert Johnson. She is survived by her children, Daniel (Nancy) Haley, Susan (Robert) Pavlatos, Timothy Haley and Janet (Timothy) Frederick; grandchildren, Brandon Haley, Aaron Haley, Jennifer Pavlatos, Kristen Hanson, Adam Pavlatos, Bryan Frederick, Andrew Frederick and Megan Naidl; 11 great-grandchildren; cousin, Molly Dahl and many family members in Norway. A celebration of Gudie's life will be 11 a.m., August 29th at Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home, 3208 West 3rd St, Duluth. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial in Oneota Cemetery. Luncheon following the service at the West Duluth American Legion Post 71, 5814 Grand Avenue.
