Howard W. "Howie" Birch

Howard W. “Howie” Birch Jr, 78, of Railview Apartments in Proctor, died Wednesday, May 13, 2026 in Essentia Health. Howie was born on February 24, 1948 in Robbinsdale, Mn to Howard and Una (Francis) Birch. He graduated from JF Kennedy High School in Bloomington, MN. Howie worked for the Ridgeview Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Johnson on April 26, 2026.

Howie is survived by two sisters, Karen Birch and Debbie (Alec) Castle both of Duluth; a brother, Russell (Nancy) Birch of Chanhassen, MN; beloved nieces and nephews, Duane “Dewey” Johnson, Linda Johnson, Alex Castle, Cortney Galster, Nathan Birch, Natalie Pateince, and Noah Birch; many great- nieces and nephews.

If you want to honor Howie, have some good laughs, tell stories and drink a Diet Coke for him.

Howie requested no services. Burial will take place in the Augustana Lutheran Cemetery.
