Irene Dunaisky

Irene G. Dunaisky, 83, of Hermantown, passed away September 21, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital. Irene was born April 21, 1931 to Felix and Ida (Tomczak) Klejeski in Split Rock Township, Kettle River, MN. She graduated from Moose Lake High School and moved to Duluth in 1949. She worked at Herb Spindlers Farm "N" Home store before her marriage to Andrew Dunaisky April 18, 1953 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. After her family was grown, she worked at Perreaults Bakery then Glass Block for 14 years, retiring in 1993. As a cancer survivor, Irene volunteered for Reach To Recovery for 15 years. After retirement, she volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital for 20 years. She was also a member of the Holy Family Rosary Society, Glass Block Retirees, St. Lawrence Catholic Church and it's Ladies Guild. Irene was an organic gardener for decades before it became fashionable. Her pickles and baked goods were fought over! She was also a beautiful seamstress, and knitted many treasured gifts for family, friends, and cancer patients. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andrew; three sisters, Marie Jenski, Martha B. Caskey, and Teresa Lien; and six brothers, John, Thomas, Carl, Raymond, Michael, and Joseph Klejeski She is survived by her children, James (Sherry) Dunaisky of Wrenshall, MN, Andrea (Dennis) Newton of Lexington, KY, Joseph (Rebecca) Dunaisky of Randall, MN, Sally Dunaisky (David Moczygemba) of Schertz, TX; and grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Newton, Anna Dunaisky, Jonathon and Emily Dunaisky, and Derek Moczygemba; brother Lewis Klejeski, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Silva-Benedict, Dr. Krog-Breeuwer and St. Lukes Hospice for their loving and compassionate care of Irene. Memorials preferred to St. Lawrence Church or St. Luke's Hospice. Visitation 10AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Road, Duluth. Burial at Polish Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home.
