Ivah Sundquist

December 16, 1930 — April 29, 2017

Ivah Sundquist died on April 29th, 2017, in St. Luke’s Hospice due to pancreatic cancer. She was 86.

Ivah was born on December 16th, 1930, in Duluth, MN to her parents, Anna and Ole Finseth. She was a graduate of Denfeld High School and married the love of her life, Milton Sundquist in 1951.

Ivah and Milt raised their family in Hermantown, MN.  Ivah was very involved with the local AGO (American Guild of Organists). She was organist for Salem Lutheran Church, Bethany Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church.  Ivah loved reading, gardening and most of all she loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ivah was preceded in death by her parents, her brother’s Oliver and Lloyd Finseth, and sister, Donna Mae Peterson.

Ivah is survived by her husband of 65 years, Milt; sister Carol Fagerstrom of New Hope, MN, her children, Paul of St. Paul, Mary (Dave) Miller, of Hermantown, Charles (Jim Sontag) of New Hope, PA and Ann (Doug) Melander, of Duluth; her grandchildren Kristen Lease, Michael Reedy, Scott Miller, Andrew and Jonathon Melander, Paige Wegner, Phillip and Stewart Melander; great-grandchildren, Adriana, Ellsie and Emilia and many nieces and nephews.

VISITATION:  5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4th at Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home and continuing at 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service Friday at First Lutheran Church, Duluth.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Lutheran Church or Animal Allies are preferred.
