Jean Adell Royer

June 14, 1934 — December 3, 2025

Hermantown

Jean A. Royer, 91 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 3, 2025. She was born in Proctor on June 14, 1934, the first of twins to Andrew and Delia Marino. She was baptized, confirmed and went through 8th grade at St. Rose School in Proctor and graduated from Proctor High School in 1952.

She was a Winter Texan for 10 years. She enjoyed fishing with her husband, Herb on Lake Superior. Jean worked as a homemaker, at the Proctor Journal, Betty’s Pies, and the Human Development Center. She played in her high school marching band and in 1987 joined past members of the band as Moody’s Marchers to honor its former director, John Moody. She marched and played her saxophone in parades for several years.

She also wrote poems and songs and taught herself to play the piano. Most of all, she loved the Lord and anticipated going to Mass as often as she could. Her family was the most important. Staying close to them. Enjoying everyone right down to the newest member of her great great grandchildren.

Jean has been involved with a study group, learning about the Divine Will of God for many years. She also leads a rosary with fellow pray-ers once a month at Edgewood, where she lived. Every week, she led a prayer meeting with friends in her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; daughter, Annette; 3 sisters, Kathleen Blackburn, Marguerite Young, Jane Carlson; brother, Joe Marino; and 5 grandchildren, Mary Jean Royer, Tim Roman, Jonny & Peter Dahl, and Matthew Sundstrom. She will be sadly missed by her son, Clyde (Brenda); 4 daughters, Karen Roman, Theresa (Robert) Krajewski, Patricia (Tom) Hillman, Diana (Doug) Berger; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 12th at 10:30 AM in St. Lawrence Catholic Church. A Rosary will start at 9:00 AM followed by a visitation from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. Interment at Oneota Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital are preferred. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home 218-624-1059.
