Jeannie Georgene Stenson

“Jeannie” Edith Georgene Stenson, 79, of Duluth, died Friday, October 31, 2025 in the Hilltop Healthcare center. Jeannie was born on February 9, 1946 in Duluth to Carl V and Edith (Gelling) Stenson.

Jeannie attended Duluth Central High School but did not graduate until 1988 with her GED, one year before her son, Cory, graduated. “He wasn’t going to one up me!”. She worked for various companies including Northshore Manufacturing, North Shore Gene Givens, Inc, instrumental in opening the Harborview Community store where she ran the entire store, Chris Jensen / Cedar Unit, and 30 years at HRA as a resident caretaker retiring in 2015. Jeannie was on the Copeland Advisory Board, president of the Copeland Community Center, president of the Harborview resident counsel. She also served on the board at the Valley Youth Center and coached softball, winning several city championships. She loved bingo, sewing, bowling and the casino. She had a lifelong passion for the Minnesota Vikings and UMD Hockey. She will be remembered for her love for family & friends, unwavering kindness and her infectious enthusiasm for everyone around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Amey Kennedy and Mona Stenson; nephews, Christopher Kennedy and Joshua Proulx.

Jeannie is survived by her children, Cory Stenson and Krissy Stenson; grandchildren, Dan Peterson (Alyssa), Katie (Matt) Kroeger, Easton Stenson, Tabathia Stenson and Rydell Stenson; a great-granddaughter, Eva Birchland; two brothers, Carl “Bub” (Mary Jo) Stenson of Tamarack, MN and Bill (Roni) Stenson of Cloquet; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Health Center and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Jeannie.

Visitation 10 am until the 11 am memorial service Wednesday, November 12, 2025 in Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home. Chaplain Tricia Mattson officiating. Burial in Lakeview Cemetery, Wright, MN at a later date.
