Joyce Liljegren Johnson

January 23, 1927 — January 9, 2024

North Oaks, MN

Joyce Johnson passed away peacefully on January 9, 2024, in North Oaks, Minnesota, just 2 weeks shy of her 97th birthday.  Joyce was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, where she met the love of her life, Art Johnson, whom she married in 1952 at Temple Baptist Church.  Joyce was a member of Temple from childhood through most of her adult life.  She was a loving and devoted wife for more than 45 years.  Joyce had worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell before transitioning into her most difficult job, raising three boys, a job that she excelled at.  Joyce relished her job as mother.  She sewed clothes for her family, always had plenty of homemade bread and sweeter baked goods on hand and enjoyed taking long summer road trips with her family (even when it was in a tent).  When the boys grew up and got married, Joyce was thrilled to finally gain some daughters, whom she loved as her own.  As her clan grew, so did her love for her family as 3 children expanded to 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren (all girls), and two great-great grandchildren (some more boys, finally).  Even more than love for her family, Joyce had a deep faith and love for her Lord Jesus.  Joyce was devoted to prayer and reading her Bible.  While she will be deeply missed by her family, we rejoice that she is now at home with her Lord.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Milton & Mildred (Carlson) Liljegren; and brothers, Roger, Glenn, and Earl Liljegren. She is survived by her children, Clyde (Sharon), Lloyd (Barbara), Kent (Heather Brient-Johnson); grandchildren, Fred, Jeff, Elizabeth (Johnson) Atkins, Matthew, Bai Li; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. with a visitation starting at 11:00 a,m, in Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home. Interment at Park Hill Cemetery.
