Lester Nash

June 22, 1924 — May 28, 2012

Lester Andrew Nash of Nashwauk, MN and Mission, TX passed away peacefully at Diamond Willow's Misty Ivy on May 28, 2012. He was 87 years old. He was born on June 22, 1924 in El Rosa, MN to Matt and Eva (Beaudry) Nash. He spent the majority of his childhood in the Nashwauk, MN area where he graduated from Greenway High School and attended Itasca Junior College until his enlistment in the US Navy in May of 1943. He spent his Navy career as an aviation radar technician and served until 1/1/46 in Corpus Christi, TX. When he returned from service he started work at Hannah Mining, later National Taconite, where he worked his way up to Assistant Superintendant of Maintenance retiring in 1986 He was joined in marriage to Marie Michael on April 1, 1944 and they raised three daughters in the Nashwauk area. After retiring they enjoyed being "Winter Texans" in the Mission, Texas area where he taught Spanish. He enjoyed aviation and became a private pilot in 1957. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Parish in Nashwauk and the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marie in 2000 and his second wife Ruth Teague in 2010 and three sisters Theresa Henriksen, Lorraine Nash, and Agnes Merhar. He is survived by his daughters, Evie (Frank) Tahtinen of Duluth, MN , Gail (Bob) Rosauer of Fort Collins, CO , and Annette (Greg) Renkly of Rochester, MN, 7 grandchildren Scott(Barb), Rick(Raquel), Keith(Andrea) Tahtinen, Corey and Heather McNair and Adam(Jen) and Haley(Andrew) Renkly and 7 great grandchildren Zach, Tyler, Joanna, Elle, Jake, John and his namesake Nash. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Erik Sather of the Essentia Health's Lakeside Clinic and the staff of Diamond Willow's Misty Ivy whose gentle care made his last year a time of peace and joy. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 11AM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Nashwauk. Burial in Nashwauk Cemetery. Arrangements by Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home.
