It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Lowaine E Morris (Thompson) at the age of 94. Lowaine was a lifetime resident of Duluth until her passing on July 21, 2026 with family by her side.
She was a Lady of many talents being active in PTA, boy scouts as a Den Mother and as a girl scout Leader. She started her working career at Elliott Packing company then working as a waitress at Anton's Bar where she met the love of her life Charles (Chuck) W. Morris. They were married on September 06, 1957. She then became a stay-at-home Mom returning to work when the kids got older at the cafeteria of Bryant Elementary. She ended her career after 26 years as the cafeteria manager at Lincoln Elementary. Looking for something new to do, she became a longtime volunteer at the former Chris Jensen Nursing home.
Until Covid, Chuck and Lowaine were able to spend many winters in Yuma AZ, where they connected with old friends and made many new ones from all over the US and Canada.
She participated in women's golfing Leagues in both Duluth and Yuma.
She loved gardening, was a member of the St. Lawrence Garden Club and always planted gardens in her yard. After she was unable to garden herself, she directed her daughters on how she wanted it done.
Her spirituality was very important to her. She was a longtime member of the former Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity where she served on the church council, Altar Guild, and taught Sunday school. After it's closing, they found a new welcoming family at their current church, Christ Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Esther Circle.
She was well known for her love of baking. She always had a batch of cookies or muffins in the oven ready to share, or was making one of her delicious desserts for Sunday church Fellowship time.
Lowaine was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Raymond Thompson; and sister, Mardelle Peterson.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; daughters, Holly Rogers (Howard Paulson), Karen (Mike) Lowney; and son, Jeff (Cindy); grandchildren, Ken and Corey Rish, Mike (Nicole) Riordan, Michelle (Matt) Lynch, Dalton, Clayton, and Haley Morris; great grandchildren Kylen (Emma), Kaden Rish, Malia, Collin, and Ava Riordan, Cian, Cavan and Conor Lynch; one great-great granddaughter due to be born any day; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held, Monday, July 27, 2026 with Visitation beginning at 10:00am with an 11:00am service to follow at Christ Lutheran Church, 2415 Ensign Street, Duluth MN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home, 218-624-1059
