Lyle L. Johnson, 82, of Lakewood Township, died Monday, August 12, 2024 in his home surrounded by family. Lyle was born on December 3, 1941 in Duluth to Arthur and Mabel (Lund) Johnson. Lyle was a 1959 graduate of Duluth Central High School and served in the Navy. He married Connie Graham in Duluth on June 6, 1964. Lyle worked at Diamond Tool for many years until its closing, then attended Lake Superior College for Auto Body Technician. Lyle retired from World Power where he painted Wind Mill blades. He loved animals, especially Crows. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and drones, fixing old cars and was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church, the American Legion and the Model Airplane Flying Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Leon Graham. Lyle is survived by his wife Connie; son, Lance (Karen) of Duluth; daughter, Lora (Terry) Cherne of St. Anthony, MN; five grandchildren, Dalton (Reyna) Johnson, Tucker (Cayli) Johnson, Jo Johnson, Gianna and Josie Cherne; a great grandson, Elias Johnson; a sister-in-law, Chris Graham of London, England.
Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am memorial service Friday, September 6, 2024 in the Waters of Life Lutheran Church, 6221 Rice Lake Road. Military honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. Burial in Park Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
