Marcella Helen "Marcy" Royer

Marcella Helen “Marcy” Royer, 101 of Duluth, died Saturday, April 19, 2025 with family by her side. She was born in Duluth on October 19, 1923 to Theodore and Mary Hansen. Marcy married Rolland “Rollie” Royer on August 13, 1948 in Duluth. She was a loving, caring, gregarious lady who was proud of her Norwegian heritage. She embraced life at home in Duluth, at the cabin on Round Lake and winters in Arizona. Throughout her life she loved to dance, sing, play cards, read, stitchery, crochet and China paint. She worked for many years at the Ben Franklin store in West Duluth. She was a member of Spirit of God Lutheran Church, the West Duluth American Legion Post 71 where she was past president of the Women’s Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rollie; a sister, Fern Gross; a great-grandson, Dustin Newton; and a great-great-grandson, David Lafontaine. Marcy is survived by a daughter, Marlene (Gerald) Lunke of Duluth; granddaughters, Jodie Lunke of Duluth, Diana (Mike) McCollum of Hudson, WI and Mary (Frank) Wotruba of Duluth; great-grandchildren, Jessica (Dane) Sortland of Oahu, HI, Joshua (Meghan) McCollum of Plymouth, Cassaundra (Matt) Lafontaine of Duluth, Michael Wotruba of Duluth and Paul Wotruba of Duluth; a niece, Maryjo Gross of Castalian Springs, TN; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Our family would like to express sincere gratitude to the Edgewood Memory Care and CaringEdge Hospice teams of Hermantown for their wonderful care of Marcy.
