Marlene Kay Baker, 77, of Proctor passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 23, 2024. She was born in Mankato, MN on December 1, 1946, to Charles and Jean Herbst. Marlene retired from the Ridges Hospital in Burnsville as an RN. She had helped with opening the Ridges Hospital. Marlene was a member of Forbes United Methodist Church, UMW circle, and the Leah circle both at Forbes, and Altrusa. She was an avid cross stitcher, she made greeting cards and enjoyed camping and spending time RVing.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents.
Marlene is survived by her husband John, sons Marcus (Kristin), and Jeffrey (Allison) Baker, granddaughter Emily, siblings Barb (Ernie) Neilsen, Betty Lou (Jim) Peterson, and John (Gwen) Herbst, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association, 525 S. Lake Ave., Ste 214, Duluth, MN 55802.
Visitation will be held on Saturday Nov. 16, 2024, from Noon until the 1PM Celebration of Life in Forbes United Methodist Church, 33 Grove St. Proctor, MN 55810. Arrangements by Williams-Lobermeier- Boettcher Funeral Home. 3208 W. 3rd St. Duluth, MN 55806. 218-624-1058. The burial will be in the Lake Crystal Cemetery, Lake Crystal, MN at 1:30PM on Monday Nov. 18, 2024.
