Marlyn Anderson Beach

Marlyn Anderson Beach was born February 15, 1923 in Duluth, MN to Charlotte (Hagenson) Anderson and Erick Anderson.

She attended Lincoln Elementary and Jr. High School and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1941. She attended Duluth State Teachers College after High School. She was a registered X-ray technologist and had graduated from X-ray Technologist School at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis in 1948. She worked at the Medical Arts X-ray Laboratory in Duluth. Marlyn was a US Veteran having served in the Navy (Waves) for two years during World War II. She lived all but four years of her life in Duluth.

She married Lester C. Beach July 1, 1961 and resided in Duluth. They spent the winter months in Texas since 1983.

Marlyn was an active member of First Covenant Church in Duluth, serving on the Deacon Board, the Care Commission and other committees. She was also a member of the church choir. She has been a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital for over 50 years and had also served on the St. Luke’s Hospital Volunteer Guild Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Thelma Fenske (Elbert), and Willow Tallio (Francis); a niece, Francine Leppanen (Vern); special cousins, Margaret Anderson and Dorothy Mayfield (Harold); Marlyn’s husband, Lester of 58 wonderful years.

She is survived by a cousin, Kirsten Jensen (Svend Erik) in Denmark, along with many of her husband Lester’s nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Visitation 10 am until the 11 am funeral service Saturday, January 4, 2025 at First Covenant Church. 2101 West 2nd Street. Pastor Jenny Armstrong officiating. Military honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. Memorials to First Covenant Church or St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
