Mary Swanstrom

Mary Katharine "Kathy" Swanstrom, age 91, of Duluth, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 12, 2015 at Aftenro Home surrounded by her family. Kathy was born in Germantown, PA on September 3, 1924 to Walter and Isabel Hoover. She married Edward Swanstrom in March of 1956. Kathy retired from the Polinsky Rehabilitation Center as a medical secretary. She enjoyed shopping, eating out, trips to the casino, card & dice games, watching classic movies on TV, scratching lottery tickets with her granddaughter, and telling jokes. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Harriet "Vee" Erickson and brother-in-law Richard K. Swanstrom. She is survived by her daughter Janet Garrett, granddaughter Laura (Glenn) Bixler, great-grandson Evan Bixler, her son James Server, all of the Duluth area, nephews Randy, Richard and Ross Swanstrom, and many special friends including Jeffrey Garrett who has done so much to help over the years. Kathy's family would like to thank the staff of Aftenro and Essentia Hospice Home Care for their kindness. Gathering of family and friends Friday October 16, 5PM to 7PM at Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home, 3208 W. 3rd St., Duluth. Burial at Forest Hill Cemetery.
