Raymond Jens Soberg, 92, greatly beloved, went home to the Lord on Sunday, July 28th. Born June 2, 1921 in Duluth, Raymond graduated Central HS '39 and St Olaf College '43, and was a commissioned officer and navigator in the Navy during WWII. He was a successful contracting engineer with ABI and Lakehead. Ray was an avid champion swimmer and member of American Legion and Faith Lutheran. Ray will be remembered as a precious, strong, and loving father and friend to many. Ray is preceded in death by mother, Marie Holt, father Fred Monsen Soberg, sisters Clarice Arnold and Marie Tonkin, and is survived by sister Evelyn Tonkin, his children, Fred(Cindy) Soberg, Sue(Roger) Deloach, grandchildren Jonathan(Mari), David, Joshua(Arlene), Nathanael; Sarah(Al) Deloach Kubat, Nathanael(Sarah)Deloach, and Christina(Michael) Stainbrook, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home and continues from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday in Faith Lutheran Church. 51st Ave East and Glenwood St. Entombment in Sunrise Cemetery accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard.
