Richard "Butch" Clock

Richard (Butch) James Clock sadly passed away on January 18th, 2024, at St Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN.

Butch was born in Duluth on December 9th, 1948, to Norman and Leona Clock.  He was the baby of the family and grew up at his father's side at The Clocks Resort in Island Lake, MN, learning everything he knew about fishing and hunting. 

Butch was a proud Eagle Scout who graduated from Denfeld High School in 1966.  He went on to serve in the Vietnam War and after returning home to Duluth, he loved nothing more than spending time with family.  You could often find him bowling on the weekend with his dad and brothers.  He went on to work at Diamond Tool and Pettibone, where he worked the majority of his life. After retirement, however, he did enjoy working as an in-home caregiver. 

He was a father of three, a grandfather of seven, and a great grandfather of one.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and would rent a cabin large enough for everyone, so he'd have company while duck hunting. Oftentimes, he’d skip hunting just to enjoy time with the family.  

Butch was preceded in death by his father, Norman (Tic) Clock; mother, Leona (Lee) Clock; sister, Charlene (Charlie) Pero; brothers, Walter (Duffy) Clock and Steve Ryan; as well as many other family, friends and fellow service members.  

He is survived by his brother, Howard Ryan; children, Paul (Hollie) Blair, Robert Clock, and Jessica (Michael) Blair; grandchildren, David (Paige) Cosbey, Kimberly Martin, Shelby Cosbey, Aaliyah Baum, Hope Blair, Loki Lund and Lyric Lund; and great granddaughter, Vada Cosbey, as well as many family, friends and loved ones.

Visitation will occur on Wednesday, January 31^st, at Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home from 9:30am-10:30am, with funeral service to follow. Inurnment will follow the service at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery – Duluth with military honors at 12:00pm.
