Ronald Morris Brosdal

January 18, 1939 — March 28, 2026

Duluth

Ronald Morris Brosdal, age 87, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, at Elysian of Duluth.

Ron was born on January 18, 1939, in Duluth, MN, to Clarence Morris “Morrie” Brosdal and Florence Violet Brosdal. He grew up in Duluth and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1957.

Ron lived a life defined by quiet dedication, kindness, and selflessness. He was known by all who loved him as a gentle soul. His life was deeply rooted in his family and his faith. Following the passing of his father, Morrie, Ron devoted himself to caring for his mother, Florence, remaining by her side until her passing in 2019 at the age of 102. His family is profoundly grateful for the unconditional love, patience, and compassion he showed her.

Ron honorably served his country after enlisting in the 148th Air National Guard on November 9, 1961. He graduated from training with honors in October 1962. Ron served for six years as a medical laboratory specialist and later took on a supervisory role.

Ron worked as a medical laboratory technician at St. Luke’s Hospital for ten years before continuing his career at Miller-Dwan Medical Center, where he dedicated 33 years until his retirement in 2004. Ron was a highly skilled medical technologist and laboratory supervisor. He was known for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the quiet competence that earned the trust of colleagues and those he served.

Outside of his career, Ron found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved gardening, reading, playing cards, working with his hands, and fixing anything he could get his hands on. He had a passion for photography and took pride in capturing memories from his travels and family events, often sharing them during family gatherings using his projector and 35mm slides in the basement “theatre.” He cherished time with family and especially looked forward to visits from extended relatives.

Ron was a devoted member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where he volunteered in many capacities over the years such as the Administrative Council, Board of Trustees, Staff/Pastor Parish Relations, Finance/Stewardship, Membership Team, and Landscaping Team. He was often seen working behind the scenes in the kitchen during pasty making and meatball dinners and was also took his turn as an usher for many years. One of his biggest contributions to the church was being a member of the merging committee between Bethany and Central Ave. to create Asbury UMC. He was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed.

His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Elysian and Essentia Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion they provided him.

Ron is survived by his sisters, Jeanne Rychlak and Cheryl Brunner; his sister-in-law, Lorelei Brosdal; his nieces, Amy Westman, Renee Randa, and Tara Robinson; his nephews, Jeff Brosdal, Benjamin Brunner, Andrew Brunner, and Scott Brunner; and many great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Florence Brosdal, and his brother, Roy Brosdal.
