Ronald John Fechner, 90, formerly of Duluth, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 10, 2026 surrounded by his family. Ron was born in Duluth on June11, 1935 to Harold and Ann (Pfister) Fechner. Ron served in the National Guard in his younger years. He married Rosemary “Cookie” Jobin on October 24, 1953 in St. James Catholic Church in Duluth. Ron and Cookie were past members of St. James prior to moving to Chaska, MN to be closer to family. Ron worked for Gershgols Grocery Store as the produce manager for 27 years and Red Owl for two years. He then worked for Diamond Tool for eight years until its closing. Ron enjoyed spending time at Lake Minnewawa with family and friends. Ron was a hard worker and would help anyone out of a jam. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Keith in 2025. Ron is survived by his wife of 72 years, Rosemary “Cookie”; two daughters, Lynette (Steve) Cherro of Chaska, MN and Leslie (Roger) Nikkola of Green Isle, MN; grandchildren, Joshua, Travis, Rochelle, Brittany and Justin; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 11 am until 12 noon at Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home with a time for sharing at 11:30. A procession to Oneota Cemetery for the burial at 12 pm, followed by a reception at Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
