Susan Jean Hughes

Susan Jean Hughes of Duluth, MN  passed away on May 21, 2022 at the age  of 71, from complications of ALS, with her husband, Mike by her side.

Susan “Sue, Susie” graduated from Denfeld High School in 1968. She went on to study business at Duluth Business University.  She was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church, a member of the American Legion Post #71 and American Veterans Auxiliary #2000; She had a passion for life, people, celebrations and a knack for keeping traditions alive. She always maintained a dignified positive attitude and had a special ability to gather friends and family. She was a lover of clothes and fashion, including shoes, lots and lots of shoes.  Sue also enjoyed spending time in Florida with family and friends over the last 11 years.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene & Ann (Abrahamson) Maloney and her brother Dennis Maloney.

Susan is survived by her husband and best friend of 51 years, Michael; two sons, Matthew (Lorie) and Caley; grandson, Luke; brother, Patrick (Rachelle) Maloney; sister-in-law, Renae Maloney; and many other extended family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM with a Visitation starting at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2430 W 3rd St, Duluth, MN 55806.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the ALS Association.
