Ellen M. Olthoff, 94, of Duluth, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 in Miller-Dwan Comfort Care Unit with her family by her side. Ellen was born on July 5, 1926 to Edward and Geraldine (Moore) Shykes in Villard, MN. Ellen married her husband of 57 years, Earl in Breckenridge, MN and then moved to Duluth. Ellen worked in retail at Bud’s Plaza Junior for several years, then went to Siefert’s in the Miller Hill Mall until her retirement. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, having lunches and card clubs with her friends and loved spending time with her family. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; son, Todd; daughter, Kim; five brothers and a sister. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Chuck) Eilefson of Hermantown, Sandy (Denny) MacKay of Duluth and Patti (Mike) Theno of Cloquet; 12 grandchildren, Kelly (Garret) Hjelle, Tina (Brant) Larson, Shannon Gamache, Chris MacKay, April (Bill) Archibald, Heidi (Jared) Hinks, Ashley Roy, Morgan (Tyler) Blomberg, Ryan (Ashley) Olthoff, Kyle (Ann) Olthoff, Katie (David) Semm and Nikki Simone. Ellen has 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Visitation 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, April 17, 2021 in St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please offer a Prayer Mass at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
