Helen Bergh

September 5, 1926 — February 1, 2020

Helen Marie Bergh, 93, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 surrounded by family. Helen was born on September 5, 1926 to Carl and Ida Landin in Duluth, Minnesota. Growing up, many of her fondest memories were from the summers she spent on her grandfather’s farm in Mahtowa. Helen was a Denfeld High School graduate and on September 7, 1946 she married Richard Bergh. Helen and Richard built a home in Hermantown, where they raised their family.

Helen was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church and her strong faith was a guiding factor throughout her life. As long as she was physically able, she volunteered to help out in whatever capacity needed.

Helen was known for her famous potato salad and her homemade butterhorn rolls. They were a must for every family gathering. She loved Oreos and Coke, and whenever you came to visit, she was sure to offer you some while giving you an opportunity to admire her treasured Beanie Baby collection. Her thoughtful and kind nature was exemplified by the cards she sent for every occasion and the photo albums she lovingly put together for each family member. These albums are a lifetime compilation of pictures, newspaper articles, birthday napkins, and anything else she thought special and meaningful.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, granddaughter Stacie McClimek, stillborn twin great-grandsons, and her beloved sister, Grace Bergh.

She is survived by her large and loving family. Children: Kathleen (David) Noponen of Sturgeon Lake, Larry (JoAnn) Bergh of Hanapepe, Kauai, HI, Karen (Rodney) McClimek of Hermantown, Brian (Cheryl) Bergh of Eagan, Thomas (Karen) Bergh of Hermantown, Warren Bergh of Duluth and Joan (Duane) Wiita of Proctor. Grandchildren: Lisa Ryan, Craig Noponen, Jon Noponen, Matthew Bergh, Beth McClimek, Amy McClimek, Travis McClimek, Alacia Bergh, Kaylee Bergh, Erik Bergh, Sarah Powers, Jacob Bergh, Kyle Bergh, Jeremy Bergh, Dustin Wiita, Cory Wiita, Shawn Wiita, Taris Wiita and Devaney Wiita. Great Grandchildren: Bailey, Ally, Kendall, Henry, Serenati, Halii, Teriana, Tierney, Preston, Lila, Sophie, Ethan, Aubrey, Brooke, McKenzie, Elizabeth, Lily, and Landon.
