Jacquelyn Gauthier

April 2, 1937 — August 15, 2021

Jacquelyn Jean Gauthier, 84, of Duluth, MN passed away unexpectedly but peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday August 15, 2021.

Jackie was born April 2, 1937 in Duluth to Stanley and Gertrude (Peterson) Wohlstrom.  She graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth, MN.  She married Dale R. Gauthier on June 16, 1956 in Duluth, where they made their loving home.  She was a wonderful homemaker who cared for her home and family with a passion.  She raised four beautiful children and took great pride in her large and loving family.  After her children were grown, she worked as a clerk for many years at D&H Ceramics in Duluth.  Jackie and Dale also owned and operated a cemetery basket business for over 12 years.

Jackie enjoyed following her father’s band around the area to dance the night away with her husband.  She and Dale continued their love of dancing and socializing with their friends at the American Legion in West Duluth for many years.  She loved her monthly “Club” with the girls and the weekly dinner and card games with “The Card Club” friends.  These were all special times we know she loved and cherished.  As teenagers, Jackie and Dale purchased a red ’49 Ford convertible together as their first car.  Ironically their most recent car was a red Camaro convertible that she loved cruising around in, especially to their weekly car club events.  Life sure comes full circle as Jackie re-lived her youth with Dale, cruising around in a red convertible together.

Jackie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She loved to spend time with her husband and family whether it was to celebrate birthdays or holidays, out to dinner, or a wonderfully prepared family meal “just because”.  She enjoyed traveling taking many trips with her young family and continued her love for travel with family cruises for the past 15 years.  Her favorite place to be was at the cabin on Pequaywan Lake where she spent the past 55 summers surrounded by family and friends.  She enjoyed cooking and baking for all of her family and guests.  There were many pontoon boat rides, walks, campfires, late night card games, snacks, laughter, fishing, and so much more.  Her favorite pastime was spent watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren enjoy the cabin.  Jackie spent her last day having a wonderful time with her family at the cabin, and was able to enjoy one last pontoon boat ride on the Princess Jacquelyn, chartered by her Captain Dale.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Dick Wohlstrom.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Dale R.; children, Pamela (Leslie) Grumdahl of Duluth, MN, Denise (David) Van Nispen of Redlands, CA, Lauri (Tom) Luczak of Hermantown, MN, and Dale Alan (Jodi) Gauthier of Oak Grove, MN; grandchildren Ryan (Melissa) Grumdahl, Rebecca (Paul Peterson) Grumdahl Peterson, Derek Grumdahl, Jolene Luczak (Ryan Grossman), Janelle (Luke) Kozulla, Jessie (Casey Scharnott) Luczak, Devin (Jennifer) Van Nispen, Danielle Van Nispen, DeAnn (Tyler) Buechter, Kaila and Kati Gauthier; great-grandchildren, Easton and Abigail Grumdahl, Rylee Raymond, Kaleb and Kodey Kozulla, Kooper Luczak, Drew Van Nispen, and Autumn Buechter; sister Marlene Mendoza, and many more extended family and friends.

Visitation: 10am until 11am service Friday August 20, 2021 at Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home.  Burial in Oneota Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter, 7900 W 78th Street, Suite 100, Edina, MN 55439.
