John Wabik

November 17, 1934 — December 1, 2020

John “Jan” Wabik, 86, of Duluth, died Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the Benedictine Health Center. John was born in Ostowe, Poland on November 17, 1934 to Anton and Lucy Wabik. John married Carole Lee in 1961 and together they raised their three children. John worked for Elliott’s Meats for many years as a meat cutter and was a member of the Meat Cutters Union. John retired from Diamond Tool where he worked as a machinist. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Tri State Pigeon Club. John was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, and a very loving, kind, gentle and caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Carole; a sister, Helen Glowacki. John is survived by his children, Sharon (Wayne) Scheer of Cotton, MN, Theresa (Ken) Wojtkowaik of Duluth and Daniel (Gayle) Wabik of Duluth; a brother, Stanley (Marilyn) Wabik of Duluth; two sisters, Lottie Hoder of Duluth and Ursula Mrozik of Edina, MN; two stepbrothers, George and Victor Bodinia both of Edina; a stepsister, Nina Howard of Edina; grandchildren, Derek Hill and Samatha West; great-grandchildren, Naomi Hill, Wyatt Hill and Cody West. Visitation 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church. 2430 West 3rd St. Fr Elias Gieske officiating. Burial at Polish Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Benedictine Living Community and staff for the wonderful care provided to John. Memorials to Holy Family Catholic Church would be appreciated. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
