Kathryn Wedin, 97, of Duluth, died of natural causes on Monday, August 3, 2020 on what would have been her 74th wedding anniversary. She was born September 25, 1922 to Esther and David Bergquist in Duluth. Kathryn graduated from Denfeld High School in 1940 and married Chester Wedin on August 3, 1946. Kathryn worked at the former Coolerator Company, St. Louis County Cook Nursing Home retiring in 1984 then worked part time at Chris Jensen in the business office. Her Christian faith was fundamental. She was a lifetime member of First Covenant Church Duluth, active in Covenant Women, and served as a board member. She had a beautiful soprano singing voice and was a church choir member for nearly 60 years. She was a Sunday school teacher, a Deaconess and was on the Organ committee. She was active in St. Luke’s volunteer Guild for over 50 years, was a volunteer and auxiliary member at Chris Jensen, was a volunteer in Reach to Recovery of the American Cancer Society, and was a member of the Disabled Veterans Auxiliary. She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and always had a joke ready at fellowship following Sunday services. Family would like to especially thank caregivers at Diamond Willow Proctor for their loving and professional care of Kathryn the last years of her life. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Chester; sister, Ruth (Robert) Nolte; brother, Kenneth (Aileen) Bergquist. Survived by two sons, Donn (Anita) and Roger (Mary Beth Bujold); grandchildren, Sonya (Scott) Bliese, Brandon (Melissa) Bartlett, Kristin (Paul) Esser, Jeffrey Bilodeau, Michelle (Don) Hessel and Richard (Brenda) Bilodeau; great-grandchildren, Emily, Kelli, Leah, Camden, Katy, Kendall, Alex and Abby; great-great grandchild, Sutton and several nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2020. Burial at Oneota Cemetery. Memorials preferred to First Covenant Church in Kathryn’s honor and memory.
