Rose Marie Colpaert

Rose Marie Laverdiere Colpaert of Duluth, Mn, died on October 3, 2021 at Primrose Retirement Community in Duluth, at 93. Rose was born in Superior, WI on August 5, 1928.  She was employed by Wisconsin Grain Commission until marriage to Silvain Colpaert on June 7, 1952.Together they had 3 children.  Throughout her life she was involved in PTA, YWives, volunteering at Glensheen and St. Mary’s Gift Shop.   She was active in financial, pastoral and communion ministry, and choir at St James Catholic Church.   She was a member of the American Legion Post 71 mixed chorus and Norton Park Friendship Club.  She spent many years at D & H Ceramics in West Duluth.  Her happy place was with her stylist, Krista, at Wanda’s Hair Place.  Every summer weekend was spent at the cabin on Lake Ruth in Iron River with her family. A very important part of Rose’s life was 61 years of weekly bridge group and the many friendships formed around the table.  She lived a very happy life and everyone who knew her loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Florida Laverdiere; spouse, Silvain Colpaert; nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Rita Michon of Duluth, Diane (Dennis) Johnson Veldman of Venice, FL, Gary (Krista) Colpaert of Elm Grove, WI; grandchildren, Briana (Matt) Johnson, Ian (Jackie) Colpaert, Rachael (Dan), Lee Johnson; great-granddaughter, Vera, and another next spring. Special thank you to the Primrose Family where she spent the last 8 years of her life, and to Dennis and Rose Hallgren for driving her to chuch.  With grateful hearts the family thanks all of her friends and family for participating in her life.  She loved you all very much. The rite of funeral mass will be held in Venice Florida and burial in Superior WI.
