Rosemary Stratioti

Rosemary Ann (Tuzinski) Stratioti, age 89, of Duluth, died Monday, June 29, 2020 from Covid-19 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born December 26, 1930 to Anna (Sternal) and Leo Tuzinski. She was a lifelong Duluthian. She graduated from Denfeld High School in 1948.  On June 26, 1954 she married Joseph A. Stratioti and together they raised five children. She enjoyed being a homemaker.  She was a member of the former Good Shepherd Catholic Church and a current member of St. James Catholic Church. She was active in the West Duluth community, especially the West Duluth American Legion Post 71 where she was a lifetime member. She was also a member of the Auxiliary, and served as auxiliary president. She tirelessly and proudly gave of her time in supporting veterans’ activities. She organized the West Duluth Memorial Day Parade for over 50 years. She was a long time, enthusiastic and loud fan and supporter of Duluth Dukes and Duluth Huskies Baseball. She enjoyed working on craft projects.  She had a larger-than-life personality and enjoyed a good laugh and spending time with family and friends. The past 4+ years she lived at Benedictine Health Center, where she was once deemed the “mayor of the third floor.” She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Joe in 1986; sisters, Valeria Moran, Lucille Pohl, and Irene Hughes.  She is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Cindy) of Duluth; daughters, Deborah Mainella of Duluth and Michelle (John) Cosgriff of Mora; sons, Mark (Lezli) of Ewing, KY and Christopher of Duluth. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Tuzinski of Aurora, Colorado; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family thanks Benedictine Health Center staff for their compassionate and loving care of their mom and grandmother and Essentia Health St. Mary’s 3E and Dr. Farley for their care and support of Rosie in her final days. Private Family Graveside Services will be held at Oneota Cemetery with Rev Fr Seamus Walsh officiating. Memorials to Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV), 5209 Ramsey Street, Duluth MN 55807 would be appreciated. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
